Quick Blazer Notes

Newport Sunset

1. Rudy Fernandez should have played more in the 4th quarter, a lot more. He has the most experience on the team in "big games" from his experience on the the Spanish Olympic team.

2. Bonehead play by Joel - love the guy and realize he was trying to make a hustle play but that one really hurt especially with timeouts left.

3. Brandon is not D-wade, Kobe or Lebron in the eyes of the refs. Against Battier those are probably the only 3 guys in the league who would get a blocking foul on that play.

4. Battier is not a stats guy he just wins games and can't be left open - great trade a few years back in him for Gay. Gay will always be a great scorer on a bad team - kind of like Shareef Abdur-Rahim

5. The winner of game 4 is gonna win that series. Rockets in 6.

6. The Blazers have done a good job of beating up on Yao. Unfortunately the team that really helps is the Lakers.

7. Aaron Brooks has returned to Earth.

8. Landry and Scola have played some very good ball this series

We took Evie to Newport last weekend to visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium. She had a great time. Here is a photo Emily took:

Friday Night Picks

Big Buddha

Went to form last night except for the Memphis Mizzou game - Tyreke Evans was outstanding but the Tigers got in way to big of a whole to come back in this one. Will see how Mizzou handles UConn's size tomorrow. Hell of a last minute by Fields last night for Pitt by the way.

Tonight I like:

UNC over Gonzaga (however I will cheer for the Zags because a win here for them makes it likely I win some $ in a bracket pool and a loss will make it unlikely)

Louisville over Zona - Zona is the only CInderalla left in a tourney lacking Cinderellas - of-course the idea of Zona being a Cinderella is a bit odd as they have won a championship in the modern era and are from a BCS conference

Syracuse over Oklahoma - For some reason I think Blake Griffin gets in foul trouble tonight and they will have major problems winning if that happens.

Michigan State over Kansas - The Spartans have a lot of experienced big guys led by Suton - the Hawks have Cole Aldrich and that is about it. I'll take Sparty.
